Why “Cloud”
The information lives in the cloud, so the reader can be anywhere
The word Cloud derives from “cloud computing”, itself a metaphor for the internet. Cloud Publications therefore means a type of internet-based publication system, in which services are delivered to a user over the internet: open access e-journals, an e-library of open access theses and dissertations, and online learning programmes.
We are named this way because the information being accessed is found in the cloud. It does not require a reader to be in any specific place to reach it.
